Merry Christmas 2020

Merry Christmas 2020
From Pastor Garry Baldwin

The realities of 2020 and the pandemic has reminded me of the reason for the season we call “Christmas.” In the midst of a world that is confined and existing in darkness, our LORD comes into the world to bring light, hope, love, and peace. That is where we find joy and how we are able to overcome the darkness and celebrate Christmas 2020.

Joy to the World, the LORD has come! Let earth receive her king!

It truly is a joy, but hard to really believe that this is my 16th Christmas as your Pastor. This year has been so different as we have ministered together and yet have not seen each other as much.  Our witness about how Jesus has helped us this year is a wonderful message of hope to all. Tell His Story to everyone you see this Christmas. Overflow with “family love” to all your generation no matter how creative you have to make it. Let “Christ” be the emphasis of your Christmas. Let the LORD make your Christmas “merry” and let His light make it “bright”.

We will safely gather at Midwood to celebrate this year, so, please bring your friends and family to Christmas Morning Worship on, Sunday December 20 at 11:00am as we shine forth His glory through our praise and worship and present our gifts to Jesus. Also if you can, join us on Christmas Eve (Thursday, December 24) at 5:00pm for our annual Community Communion Celebration. All services will also be on streamed to Facebook.

In honor of our Savior and Lord and in gratitude for all the great ministries we enjoy year-round at Midwood Baptist Church, many of you are planning your annual “love gift” at Christmas as we gather for worship. It is almost like a birthday present, isn’t it? There are many great charities to give to during Christmas, but one thing is for sure: we all love our Church and our Lord Jesus, so it is fitting that we would give a special gift this year to Midwood to help out the ministry. Thank you for your love and generosity! You are a wonderful family of faith that I am honored to be a part of!

Jesus is Born! Hallelujah! Shine for Him!

“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace,
goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:14)

We humbly give God all the glory for 2020 and the opportunities to minister His peace, and goodwill in Charlotte and around the World. Merry Christmas and our love and thanks to our Church Family…

2020 Christmas Offering for International Missionaries

2020 Christmas Offering for International Missionaries
From Pastor Garry Baldwin

The global goal for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering this year is $175 million. To help reach this, our goal at Midwood is $3,000.

“Every dollar given to the Lottie Moon offering will enable a man, woman or family to stay on the field, to lift the light of Jesus Christ amidst some of the darkest, most dangerous and difficult-to-reach places, and to make disciples among unreached peoples” God has given His people wealth for the sake of His worship, and I praise Him for how this money will serve as a tool in His hands for the multiplication of the church and the magnification of His name.”

3,623 IMB missionaries depend on it to pay day-to-day expenses and fund their efforts to spread the Gospel. The Lottie Moon offering — and regular missions giving by churches through the Southern Baptist Convention’s Cooperative Program — fund missionary salaries, housing, medical care, children’s education, field transportation and other expenses. During this time of changes and transitions our missionaries need our help and gifts.

Even in the midst of Covid-19 restrictions, IMB missionaries and their ministry partners communicated the Gospel to 535,325 people, led nearly 89,325 people to faith in Christ, baptized 47,929 new believers and started 12,368 new churches and many more believer groups that will become churches, according to IMB’s annual statistical report. Beyond that, trained 33,068 disciples among 214 people groups to engage their own people inside their countries. Disciples among 62 people groups engaged different groups or cities within their countries.

Please, pray and give to support of Missionaries now.
